If you, a friend or yours, or family member of yours or any kind of loved one for that matter is or are suffering with addiction, then there might still be hope yet. The Northeast of the United States has risen to the challenge of effectively tackling their heroin and prescription drug epidemic that has been negatively impacting them for years now. In recent months the City of Boston has launched a new and impressive hotline system to help connect anyone who is addicted or anyone who is seeking help for a loved one with access to recovery services. This was just established recently as the mayor’s office announced it last Tuesday.
In Boston, thanks to this new hotline residents can now call the “311” city services line 24 hours a day, seven days a week and request access to treatment services and be able to get referrals to qualified and professional addiction treatment centers in their area or far away.
Operators who initially take these calls will route those calls to a Providing Access to Addictions Treatment, Hope and Support (PAATHS) recovery specialist, who will help determine the best way to move forward with each and every individual person who calls them. Those specialists will be available seven days a week, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on weekends from noon to 4 p.m. These are real specialists too. They will have extensive conversations with callers and work with each and every caller to help them find the best of the best in term of rehab centers to go to.
Why We Need Addiction Rehabilitation Hotlines
This method has been desired and wanted in Boston for years now. They finally have it and that is pretty exciting for them. In fact, this area is thought to be on the right track and in a big way too thanks to these facts. Rehab hotlines are helpful and beneficial all across the nation. States and geographic areas that have already begun to use them have benefited greatly from them. The entire state of New York has been using toll-free, addiction and rehabilitation help hotlines for over a year now and New York is one of the only states in the nation that is not experiencing a huge increase in drug and alcohol abuse and addiction in general.
Addiction help hotlines in general really do help people a lot. They give an addict or someone who is seeking help for an addict a lot of help and a lot of benefit and salvation. These hotlines are able to help people and find them some place to go to for treatment when all else feels lost and hopeless.
Addiction hotlines can connect callers to qualified rehab centers that can assist them with finding the help and the salvation that they need to really and truly go free from drug and alcohol addiction and substance abuse in general. A lot of addicts are not able to get into rehab centers and end up dying from their addictions, but it’s not because they don’t try, it’s because they cannot find good, quality rehab centers and programs to go to. This is the main, underlying reason why these individuals end up have troubles and difficulties. With addiction help hotlines though, this can all change. It is currently hoped that other states and other cities will follow suit with what has been happening in the Northeast so that finally the rampant spread of drug and alcohol addiction in the nation today can be brought to heel.
Addiction is a rising epidemic. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, (CDC), has labeled the addiction issue in the United States as it is now as an actual epidemic. What this means is that the substance abuse problem in the United States is actually worse than it ever has been before. If nothing is done about it then it is possible and likely that it really will only get much, much worse long before it gets any better. This more than anything else is why now more than ever addiction help hotlines are quite needed and wanted.
