• No less than 18 percent of full-time and 20.2 percent of part-time employees abuse illegal drugs in Rancho Mirage. The 2010 National Drug Treat Assessment published by the U.S. Dept. of Justice notes an increase in workplace drug abuse, primarily prescription narcotics in small towns in this state.
• 32% of workers stated that a co-worker’s drug/alcohol use affected their job performance and in a big way too. When an employee is impaired on the job to one degree or another, the company has not only lost one productive employee, but in fact has dramatically reduced the productivity of all the other workers who they interact with too, because of their addiction. Drug use in the workplace has a ripple effect that goes across many different sectors, and when a city like Rancho Mirage relies so much on its middle class workforce, this can be a pretty serious issue to say the least.
• Not only is productivity reduced quite a bit when an employee abuses drugs and alcohol, but company morale is negatively impacted too, causing good employees to leave the company to avoid drug impaired co-workers.
• An October 29, 2010 report from urine drug testing company Quest Diagnostics found 19 percent of full-time workers and 21.5 percent of part-time workers were current drug abusers in Rancho Mirage and in nearby cities too. US Department of Labor studies in 2006 found out that there were much higher worker drug abuse rates in the food services, construction, and durable goods sectors. These are all sectors that contribute greatly to the economy of Rancho Mirage, which bodes ill for them if these people are engaging in rampant substance abuse. What this means for Rancho Mirage is that they now more so than ever really do need to engage in all out drug and alcohol addiction and substance abuse inpatient, residential, drug and alcohol addiction and dependence treatment centers, detox facilities, rehab programs, and recovery organizations. This is quite the process, but with how heavily Rancho Mirage is affected, this certainly will be the best possible option for those addicted in this city.
