Oakley is a lovely and pleasant up and coming city in Contra Costa County, in the city of California, in the United States. It easily falls right within the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area. The population of the city was 35,432 at the 2010 U.S. Census as reported by the United States Census Bureau. Oakley is part of the East Contra Costa Bicycle Plan, which has existing facilities in Oakley as well as plans for further expansion too.
Oakley's first post office was established in the year of 1898, and Oakley only became an incorporated city a full 101 years later, in the year of 1999. The city's motto is known well throughout as, "A Place for Families in the Heart of the Delta.”
Oakley is known not only for its high levels of education and school attendance, but also for the fact that so many students stay within the city limits to get educated. In fact, at 99.6%, nearly all students living within the City of Oakley are attending a public or private school located within City limits themselves. The City is mainly served by Oakley Union Elementary School District, (K-8), and the Liberty Union High School District.
The City of Oakley is a relatively new city, and indeed to a degree it is in its infancy. While it is true that Oakley’s bountiful agricultural community has a rich and interesting history, the city itself as an urban area is very new. Only an hour’s drive from San Francisco, Oakley is situated in East Contra Costa County along the picturesque California Delta, a fishing and boating paradise that is sought by many state and nationwide. Oakley’s gently rolling hills are crisscrossed by country lanes and patch-worked with vineyards and orchards all across the area, though new schools and neighborhoods now share what was once a farming landscape.
As the city of Oakley blooms and grows into a full-fledged city of its own, the City’s leadership is working to maintain Oakley’s small town character while strongly encouraging the development of new industries to employ the growing local workforce as well.
Drug Abuse Strikes at the Heart of the Growing City
Sadly, drug dealers, traffickers, pushers, and criminals in general are always looking for a way to spread their substances into areas that will make them lots of money, and a new, up and coming city is just the place for that. Oakley is just getting its feet underneath it, but already addiction has become a mainstay of the city’s daily life, particularly amongst the young adult population of the city. True enough, it might be awhile before this grim situation is totally addressed, but either way it needs to be addressed and it needs to be addressed as soon as is possible.
Rehabilitation: How Oakley Residents are Going to Make it Out of the Trap of Addiction
It comes with the grace of luck and good fortune, but thankfully, there does indeed exist a way for those who are afflicted and addicted to drugs and alcohol to be able to fight against and win against their drug abuse habits once and for all. This method lies in those who are addicted going into and completing a program at an inpatient, residential, drug and alcohol addiction and dependence treatment center, detox facility, rehab program, and recovery organization. At such a rehab center, it is possible for anyone who is addicted to drugs and alcohol to be able to win that battle and come out victorious once and for all.
Oakley’s main problem is with young adults who are abusing drugs and alcohol. This is the key to the city’s suffering and dilemmas. With rehab though, those who are addicted can address not only the physical aspects of their addictions through detoxification, but also the mental aspects of their addictions through rehabilitation too. It is in this way that the most success and happiness will ultimately be found in this once pleasant and drug-free community.
Addiction is cruel and it robs individuals of their lives, sometimes on a very permanent scale and level. This is of particular concern in Oakley too because this city stands to lose so much. Any city that has never really experienced substance abuse before always suffers more so than cities that have experienced it a lot. This is the danger that Oakley faces. The city has thousands of youths that are on the verge of abusing substances that have just appeared in the city, and many could die from such abuses even after just one incidence. This does not have to be the case though. If the residents of Oakley unite and stand up for what is right and fight against addiction and treat it as the scourge that it is, then the situation will be prevented permanently.
