Yucca Valley is a pleasant, quaint, and incorporated town in San Bernardino County, in the state of California, in the United States of America. The population was 20,700 as of the 2010 census as reported by the United States Census Bureau. Yucca Valley lies just a mere 17 miles west of Twentynine Palms, 37 miles north of Palm Springs, 89 miles south of Barstow via State Route 247, 45 miles southeast of Lucerne Valley and 55 miles east of San Bernardino.  This city is perfect for people who want to live out in the country and have a pretty private, quiet home life, but still be within commuting distance to some of the nearby, bigger cities.

This city is known for its pristine beauty and pleasant views.  It is bordered in the west by the San Bernardino Mountains and in the south by the Joshua Tree National Park.  The Yucca Valley community is located in the Mojave Desert at roughly 3,300 feet above sea level.  The city has a lot of pleasant and aesthetic attractions all around it, and for that reason the quiet town does tend to attract quite a bit of tourism every year, creating a stable and reliable economy for the town’s residents.

Drug and Alcohol Abuse and Addiction in Yucca Valley

One truly saddening thing that has been occurring in California is that drug and alcohol addiction and substance abuse problems in general have been expanding outwards from the bigger cities and the more urban areas and expanding into the smaller towns and the more private communities and residential areas.  This has been because many drug dealers and criminals in general have started to run out of business in bigger cities, especially thanks to the economic crisis of 2008-20010.  This really took a toll on their profit margins.  The solution for them was to target middle class and upper middle class towns like Yucca Valley.  For some statistics on the drug problem in general:

• Some states have been suffering worse than others when it comes to substance abuse and addiction but there is no doubt in anyone’s mind that all of the states of the United States of America to some degree or another are experiencing rapid increases in substance abuse and addiction in general. Multiple different factors have contributed to this but the main three are thought to be an increased acceptance amongst the American people of general, recreational substance abuse, increased trafficking of narcotics into the nation from South America, (where the real problem rests for Yucca Valley), and increased prescription drug abuse.

• For over a decade now interest in drugs and alcohol has been steadily growing and increasing amongst the American people. Now, the United States has one of the worst addiction problems per capita in the entire country. This problem and this increase have been extreme to say the least. If something is not done soon about it then the issue will only get much, much worse. This is why it is more important now than ever for those addicted to go to rehabilitation centers and programs.

Rehabilitation Sought for Addiction

Drug and alcohol addiction has left a mark on Yucca Valley and the problem here continues to worsen time and time again with no real sign of it getting better any time soon either.  Now, the problem has shown itself to be pretty serious and concerning indeed, with little to nothing being done to prevent it or reverse it.  The issue is a concerning one to say the least, and there is little chance that anything will be done about it unless the entire city and community in general gets behind the notion of eradicating addiction in Yucca Valley once and for all.

Drug abuse and addiction is a problem in Yucca Valley.  There’s no doubt about that.  What there is doubt about is the future viability of the city.  So how does the city recover from this issue?  The key lies in effective rehabilitation of all who live there and all who abuse drugs and alcohol there.

• The two saving graces that occur in a rehab program start with detoxification.  Detox refers to the first step of rehabilitation in which an individual’s chemical dependence to drugs and alcohol is effectively addressed.  This is a major and key aspect to curing someone from drug and alcohol addiction, because one cannot really hope to effectively take on these issues without first freeing the person from the physical aspects of drug and alcohol addiction.  Once freed from physical cravings and withdrawal symptoms, the person can then move on to the much more involved aspect of addiction recovery.

• The next step is rehabilitation.  This is also accomplished at an inpatient center, and it involves taking the individual and literally freeing him or her from the mental, personal, psychological, and spiritual aspects of addiction.  This part takes quite a bit longer than detox does, as mental addiction accounts for far more of the problem than physical dependence does.

Once one has experienced both aspects of a recovery and treatment program, one will be free from drug and alcohol addiction.  This is the key and the most important thing for Yucca Valley to do right now to address its drug and alcohol problem.  If this is done and if this is done soon, then the crisis will truly be averted once and for all.
