About the City of Yucaipa
Yucaipa is a well-known and popular city located just a mere 10 miles east of San Bernardino, in San Bernardino County, in the state California, in the United States. The population was 51,367 at the 2010 census as reported by the United States Census Bureau, up from 41,207 at the 2000 census. According to San Bernardino County, the projected population in 2012 is 58,187. The city is growing rapidly due to an expanding economy and an expanding interest in the surrounding areas too.
Yucaipa has the distinction of being the former, longtime home of a large population of Serrano Indians and was also known for being the home base of what is now Stater Bros. Markets (founded in 1936, and now headquartered in San Bernardino). The city has earned a lot of interest for its growing economy and growing population too.
Drug and Alcohol Addiction in and Around the City of Yucaipa, California
There has been an increase in drug and alcohol addiction and substance abuse in general in and around Yucaipa. This is an area that, as inters has grown in it, so has its drug problem grown too. Now, the issue is quite expansive and it threatens to all but take over in Yucaipa if something is not done soon to rectify it and turn it around. Some facts and statistics on this include that:
• Methamphetamine is mostly abused by people between the ages of 15 and 25. This type of use and abuse of the drug needs to be addressed on the same level of severity and seriousness that it deserves too, as this drug is particularly dangerous and troublesome. It does not create a chemical dependence which causes individuals to believe that they do not need to go to rehab for it, but it does create a powerful psychological addiction in those who abuse it. The truth it, meth addiction needs to be taken more seriously because it is the young adults that are abusing this drug and it is the young adults that die the easiest from drug and alcohol abuse in general.
• Prescription drug abuse is rising sharply particularly among teenagers. Now, roughly eight percent of seniors in high school will admit that they abuse prescription drugs at some point in their lives, and about four percent of freshmen in high school will stay the same. This is of major concern as prescription drugs are the biggest killer of teens in the nation these days when it comes to drug abuse. If something is not done about this soon then it is feared that just more and more teens will continue to abuse prescription drugs over and over again until there is nothing left of them to be rehabilitated.
Rehabilitation Sought as a Solution for Addiction in and Around Yucaipa
A major problem in Yucaipa and all across the state for that matter has been that of drug and alcohol addiction and substance abuse in general. This has been a particularly concerning and dramatic issue as it has shown no real sign of getting any better as the years have gone by.
But how did this even come about? The issue in Yucaipa in particular started to get really bad when the economic crisis occurred between 2007 and 2008. Yucaipa is a middle class upper-middle class town and, when drug dealers and pushers and traffickers began to run out of clientele in the bigger cities due to the crash they began to look to smaller, more affluent cities on the fringe; cities like Yucaipa. Drugs slowly began to move into Yucaipa and into other cities like it, and the result has been a saddening and a concerning one indeed. If something is not done soon to address and handle this, then it is feared indeed that it will only get much, much, much worse.
This is where rehabilitation comes into play. Intensive prevention methods and measures have their place and they work pretty well, but they pale in comparison to rehabilitation. In fact, preventative measures really only work in cities and other urban and rural areas alike where drug and alcohol addiction has not made much of an impact or has just begun to make an impact of some kind or another. Essentially, this is not the case in Yucaipa as addiction has already been a big issue there for years now. Yucaipa needs intensive rehabilitation efforts, and there’s no question about that.
With rehabilitation, specifically an inpatient, residential, drug and alcohol addiction and dependence treatment center, detox facility, rehabilitation program, and recovery organization, anyone who is addicted to anything, no matter who they are, no matter what they are addicted to, no matter how long they have been addicted for, no matter how much drugs they take, no matter what they take, and no matter how long they have been taking it for or how often they take it, literally anyone can beat addiction at an inpatient rehab center.
This is what is needed in Yucaipa. When it comes to addiction, there are no nine lives. An addicted individual has one chance and one opportunity to get clean and he or she needs to do it as soon possible before an overdose and a death occurs. With rehab, one can finally do this, and with rehab Yucaipa can finally address and eradicate its addiction crisis.
