The City of Upland, California in Review and in Summary

Upland is a very, very well known, popular, and quite highly sought after city in San Bernardino County, in the state of California, in the United States.  The city is actually located at an elevation of 1,242 feet, and the climate, geography, and elevation combined make it an ideal place to live year round.  As of the 2010 census as reported by the United States Census Bureau, the city had a population of 73,732, (up from 68,393 at the 2000 census).  The city is growing largely because the area is so ideal for middle class Americans.

As for its history, the area has always been lived in because of how lovely it is, but the city was more recently officially incorporated on May 15, 1906, after previously being named North Ontario by the locals.  Upland is located at the foot of the highest part of the San Gabriel Mountains.  The city is part of the Inland Empire, a metropolitan area situated directly east of the Los Angeles metropolitan area, and it us ideal for those who want to live outside of the city but commute into the city for work or school.

Drug Addiction in Upland

There has been a strong increase of drug addiction and substance abuse all across the city of Upland.  This increase has also occurred in other cities and towns too, but no one city has been as heavily affected as Upland has.  This has bode very ill for the city but there does still exist some hope that the city will be able to pull through it in the end.  In truth, this is because the city offers much in the name of group and community support, and these actions need to be put into effect if the residents of the city have any hope at all for winning the battle against addiction once and for all.

Facts and Statistics on the Greatest Drug Problem the Nation has Ever Seen

Listed below are some facts and statistics on addiction to provide the reader with context as to just how serious of an issue that this really is:

•    Prescribed medications, and not rampant thefts from pharmacies, account for nearly all overdose incidents caused by prescription pain medications. Opiate addiction statistics show as many as three out of four people abusing prescription drugs obtained them from a friend or family member.

•    An estimated no less than eighty percent of any and all prescription painkillers are prescribed by only twenty percent of prescribers.  The majority of scripts come from primary care and internal medicine physicians in fact.  Very few actual pain prescriptions originate from physician specialists.  Because of this, it is very easy for addicts to, “doctor shop”, or go from provider to provider seeking out more and more drugs from each one.

•    It turns out that individuals who have some form of health care tend to become addicted to drugs and alcohol a lot more easily than those who do not have insurance.  In truth, medicaid enrollees receive pain prescriptions at twice the rate of non-Medicaid patients do.  To give an example of what this key fact has done, results from a Washington state study now show that Medicaid enrollees accounted for 45 percent of overdose fatalities in the state.
Rehabilitation: How to Beat Addiction in Upland Once and for All

Upland has suffered greatly at the hands of drug and alcohol addiction. In truth, the entire nation has suffered insurmountable losses in the last decade as a result of drug and alcohol addiction and dependence. The fact of the matter is that drug and alcohol addiction is one of the greatest socio-humanitarian and socio-economic issues of the 21st century.

When it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, there is only one course of action that can provide a permanent and lasting life time of recovery and sobriety; it’s important to know that rehab is not a one-size-fits-all solution. Long-term sobriety can be achieved of course by taking the path through an inpatient, residential, drug and alcohol addiction and dependence treatment center, detox facility, rehab program, and recovery organization. With a program like this, anyone who is addicted to anything in Upland can actually work out all of his or her physical dependence issues, and his or her mental addiction worries.

Inpatient rehabilitation programs help the most because they provide the most to the addict. In Upland, there are a lot of different things that are going on that would cause an individual to abuse drugs and alcohol. This is why inpatient rehabilitation is needed. With a detoxification facility at hand to address and eradicate physical dependence, and rehabilitative counseling and therapy there to address mental addiction, one can become fully rehabilitated at such an inpatient center.  Inpatient drug and alcohol addiction treatment centers and rehab programs are without a doubt the answer to addicted society.

Preventative measures enforced by the Drug Enforcement Agency, (DEA), are all fine and good but the problem will never be fully resolved until all drug and alcohol addicts and substance abusers in general are rehabilitated.  This can finally be achieved with inpatient rehabilitation.  It is a huge benefit to the United States that inpatient rehab centers exist for just this purpose.
