About the City of Tracy, California

Tracy is easily the second most populated city in San Joaquin County, California, United States. The population was 82,922 at the 2010 census as reported by the United States Census Bureau.  Tracy is ideally located inside a geographic triangle formed by Interstate 205 on the north side of the city, Interstate 5 to the east, and Interstate 580 to the southwest; this has given rise to Tracy’s motto, now recorded on the city’s website: “Think Inside the Triangle”.  The city has lived up to that motto by being quite innovative and intellectual in its various city plans and programs.

Beginning in the early 1980s, the city of Tracy experienced a growth spurt as people migrated to the city looking for affordable alternatives to Bay Area home prices, in addition to a more tranquil lifestyle too.  The city was able to offer both, and also the city had jobs too which people needed badly at that time.  A steady period of growth ensued, as many companies found Tracy an ideal location for their distribution facilities as well due to low real estate costs.  The city today is home to several of these distribution facilities and is setting its sights on newer industries, including expansion of hi-tech companies from their existing Silicon Valley bases.  The city has also become a bedroom community of some of the bigger nearby cities, and the amenities of the city have grown as a result of that too.
