A Brief Review, Summary, and Highlight of the City of Stanton and the Surrounding Areas

Stanton is a pleasant and lovely city located in western Orange County, in the state of California, in the United States of America. The population was 38,186 at the 2010 census as reported by the United States Census Bureau, up from 37,403 at the older 2000 census. The city was incorporated in the year of 1956 and operates under the classic Council-Manager form of government, providing a full range of municipal services to all who live there. Stanton is bounded by Cypress on the west, Anaheim on the north, and east, and Garden Grove on the east and south.

The city of Stanton easily and efficiently mitigates the high costs of city-hood for a relatively small population by contracting out municipal services to other companies. Most of the police services and fire protection are provided by the Orange County’s Sheriff’s Department and Orange County Fire Authority respectively and nearby.  Ambulance service is provided by a private company, Care Ambulance Service.  Stanton had formed its own police department when the city incorporated in 1956, but a union strike citing poor working conditions was originally reported as the major cause of its inevitable disbanding, (and takeover by the Sheriff’s Department as a result), in 1988. The city’s crime rate has decreased 40% from 2007 to 2013 as the city’s public services became more and more efficient.

Drug and Alcohol Abuse Now on the Rise in Stanton

Many in 2013 may have spoken too soon and now are eating their words when they spoke of Stanton as being one of the safest places in the state of California.  For a time, that might have been true but certainly is not now.  Sadly, Stanton has accrued something of a substance abuse problem as an entire city with the sheer numbers of individuals there who now abuse drugs and alcohol.  It’s actually quite serious.  In fact, if something is not done about it soon then it is feared that the entire issue in general will definitely take over and wreck untold havoc.

Facts and Statistics on the Substance Abuse Issues in Stanton and Across the Nation

To better understand the crisis as it currently stands in Stanton and the nation for that matter, some facts and statistics have been included below that showcase the issue a little bit better:

• Cocaine abuse is more prevalent in the United States than it was two decades ago.  Today, adults 18 to 25 years of age currently have the highest percentage of cocaine abuse than any other age group.  In the seventies, the age range was 30 to 40 years of age.  In modern day America however, those who are abusing cocaine seem to be getting younger and younger as the years go by.

• Underage drinking in the States has finally begun to attract the attention it warrants.  Young adults are statistically speaking far more likely to become addicted to alcohol than older adults are, so its beneficial that this is finally coming to light.  According to the 2013 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, more than nine million young adults in the United States from the ages of 12 to 20, (a full twenty-three percent of this particular age group) reported drinking alcohol excessively or in an abusive manner in the past month.

Rehabilitation Sought as a Solution for the Rising Substance Abuse Problem in and Around Stanton

A big problem that has been affecting the local residents of Stanton and the surrounding areas too has been that of drug and alcohol abuse and addiction in and around this city.  For some time now this has been a real issue of serious concern and it hasn’t been until recently that the locals have begun to consider really addressing it once and for all. With drug and alcohol addiction comes a whole wide plethora of other problems too, and some of these have been:

• Crime.  Crime has gone up in Stanton and the surrounding areas even though Stanton is not a very big city.  It has still been a big issue here nevertheless.  Crime always tags along anywhere that drugs go.  Crime has been a problem time and time again and probably will continue to be so unless the drug abuse issue here is totally resolved once and for all.  There is no doubt about it, addicts will lie, cheat, steal, and do damages and anything else necessary in the pursuit of getting more drugs and alcohol.

• Monetary costs to local residents.  What a lot of people do not realize is the sheer expense that goes along with drug and alcohol abuse and addiction in general.  When one is addicted to drugs and alcohol, one usually has little to no money on hand, and when one gets into an accident of one kind or another then one is definitely in trouble and has to call upon the average American taxpayers for help.  Studies show that the costs that occur from drug and alcohol abuse and addiction in general number well over four-hundred billion annually.

• Overdoses are also a major problem in and around Stanton.  Not many people have died from them yet, but a lot have overdosed and have just barely had their lives saved.  If something is not done soon to prevent this, then it is likely that they will not be so lucky the next time.

In the end, the best and the most successful by far way to beat addiction once and for all is by taking a course through an inpatient, residential, drug and alcohol addiction and dependence treatment center, detox facility, rehab program, and recovery organization.  With the help that is offered at centers like these, anyone who is addicted to anything can beat their habits once and for all.
