Santa Maria is a well-known and popular city near the Southern California coast in Santa Barbara County, in the United States.  Santa Maria is approximately just 120 miles northwest of the Los Angeles city limits.  The city’s estimated 2014 population was 103,410, making it the most populous city in the county and also in the Santa Maria-Santa Barbara, CA Metro Area.  The city is notable for its wine industry and Santa Maria-style barbecue too of which it is quite famous.  Sunset magazine called Santa Maria “The West’s Best BBQ Town”.

Santa Maria has earned fame for other reasons too, and the city was named as an All-America City on June 20, 1998, one of only 10 such cities from across the nation to receive this coveted designation from that year.  This is one of the nation’s oldest and most respected community recognition programs as well.  Santa Maria offers something for the entire family too, and the warmth and appreciation that the city offers to visitors and residents alike has made the city very popular and well known not only in California but all across the nation too. This city has been described as a fun-filled playground in the foothills of the Sierra Madres and it is also just minutes from pristine beaches too.  Without a doubt the city will bring out the child in everyone.

The Santa Maria Valley takes pride in its acclaimed artistic and cultural attractions as well, including a remarkable performing arts scene that includes the Pacific Conservatory Theatre, Santa Maria Civic Theatre, The Clark Center, and the Great American Melodrama.  These attract even more visitors every year, making Santa Maria a major tourism hot spot.  Meanwhile, numerous museums such as the Natural History Museum, Historical Society Museum and Museum of Flight provide memorable insights into the region too.
