Problems with Addiction on the Forefront in San Dimas

Sadly, addiction has become a pretty severe and upsetting issue for all concerned in and around San Dimas.  This problem has continued on and on for some time now and has shown no real sign of lessening or dropping back at all.  As a result, grassroots efforts have begun on different ways to curb the rising drug problem in and around this area once and for all.

To understand the vast complexity of the substance abuse crisis in and around San Dimas one must first understand the statistics on just how serious this issue really is.  For example:

• Much worry has been extended to the simple observation that more and more babies are being born every single who are addicted to drugs and alcohol. Prior to the 1990s this was an almost nonexistent issue but now in fact thousands of babies are born hooked on alcohol or drug substances every single year. This needs to be addressed as it is truly terrible to create a drug addict or an alcoholic out of an individual before he or she is even born. Thankfully, rehabilitation programs exist for pregnant women and new mothers alike, they just need to be supported more.

• Substance abuse and addiction has for some time now been an increasing problem in the United States and specifically more intensely so in certain areas as well. The larger urban and metropolitan areas in the country have been affected the most, particularly when it comes to youth drug and alcohol abuse. This is an issue that has certainly gone on for some time now and has shown no real sign of diminishing or dropping off any time soon.

• One particularly painful aspect of drug and alcohol addiction has been the simple fact that more and more Americans are abusing drugs and alcohol now than ever before. This has been showcased by the simple observation that there are roughly 25 million Americans who are now addicted to drugs and alcohol.

• Since the end of the 20th century, drug abuse, alcohol abuse, and the general affliction of addiction has taken on a whole new face. Addiction has become a lot more deadly. Prior to the turn of the century the most commonly used and abused substances were hallucinogenic and marijuana, dangerous drugs indeed but not nearly as bad as today’s substances. Today the most commonly abused drugs are heroin, alcohol, prescription drugs, cocaine, and meth.  All of these drugs cause rampant overdose and death.
