To better understand the crisis as it is truly affecting the area, some facts and statistics have been included below so as to showcase the issue:
• Crystal meth is easily one of the fastest growing popular drugs in American communities all across the United States and in every area and district. To shed some light on this, the United States government reported that there were about thirteen million people over the age of twelve who had used methamphetamine at least once in their lives. The problem with meth is that is creates addiction after just one usage, so it can be estimated that most who have abused it once have also become addicted to it too.
• Alcohol abuse has become a serious issue in the United States in the last several years alone. The effect that this has had on the children of alcohol abusers is unacceptable. In the U.S. today, nearly a full seventeen percent of all children under the age of fourteen sadly have the misfortune of living with a parent who has a serious drinking problem. As the children get older too, the statistic only gets worse. Truthfully, over twenty percent of children under eighteen live with a parent who drinks heavily or has an alcohol addiction crisis.
