San Carlos is a pleasant and lovely city in San Mateo County, in the state of California, in the United States of America on the San Francisco Peninsula, about halfway between San Francisco and San Jose. It is a small yet very, very affluent residential suburb located between Belmont to the north and Redwood City to the south. The population was 28,406 at the 2010 census as reported by the United States Census Bureau.

San Carlos, known by locals and visitors alike as, “The City of Good Living”, aims for a, “small town”, feel.  Its main downtown area is composed mostly of small shops and restaurants alike.  San Carlos was the first city in California to open a charter school, (San Carlos Charter Learning Center), and its schools rank consistently well in statewide lists.  The city is in fact known for having a stellar school system and this fact has been made ever clearer by the growing population in the city of young families who hope to put their children through school here.

San Carlos is home to the San Carlos Airport and two museums too. Located downtown, the San Carlos History Museum is dedicated to the display of the history of the town from early Native American history to the space age even. This museum is open every Saturday from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The Hiller Aviation Museum, a museum specializing in helicopter and aviation history, offers interactive exhibits and more than forty aircraft including a replica of the first aircraft to fly, a spy drone with a 200-foot wingspan, and the nose section of a Boeing 747.  The city is all about its history and culture, and these facts make it even more pleasant and desirable for those who would call it home.

Facts, Statistics, and Details, Drug and Alcohol Abuse Makes Waves in and Across San Carlos, California

Sadly, drug and alcohol abuse and addiction has made a big effect on the city of San Carlos.  This has been a saddening and severe issue to say the least and will probably continue to be so for some time if nothing is done about it.  The truth of the matter lies in many different individuals who are addicted to drugs and alcohol becoming more and more heavily addicted to drugs and alcohol and them committing crimes that further embroil them in difficulties and problems.  This is a problem on a nationwide basis too.  For example:

• With addiction and substance abuse comes crime. Nothing showcases this better than the hundreds of thousands of Americans who are incarcerated in The prison system of United States of America for drug or alcohol related crimes. Truthfully, roughly 70% of all criminals in prison are there because of something having to do with drugs and alcohol. The unfortunate thing about this is that while prison might help the individuals to some degree, a prison cell is not a rehabilitation center. More often than not, criminals who are addicted to drugs or alcohol when they went into prison will continue abusing once they get out.

• Studies found that those with a drug use dependency are more likely to be arrested for acquisitive crimes such as burglary or shop theft, or for robbery and handling stolen goods – crimes often related to “feeding the habit”, to as degree.  For example, in the year 2004, 17% of state prisoners and 18% of federal inmates said they committed their current offense to obtain money for drugs. There are also very close links between drug use and women, men and children who are involved in, or exploited by, the sex trade, many of whom are caught up in the criminal justice system. However, it was found that there is evidence that drug use is both a pre-determining factor in such sexual exploitation and a means of coping with it.

Rehabilitation: How Those Who are Addicted in and Around San Carlos can Win the Battle Against Addiction Once and for All

There is a way to beat addiction once and for all and it lies in those who are addicted to go through a full and complete inpatient, residential, drug and alcohol addiction and dependence treatment center, detox facility, rehab program, and recovery organization.  With the help that is offered for individuals like this, it actually becomes quite possible and likely that addiction can really be vanquished once and for all.  This is what is necessary in and around San Carlos.  Inpatient rehab will help in these ways, just to list a few:

• Patients often do some inner work by identifying when they began using the substance and why they started abusing it.

• Patients receive strategies on how they can direct their time to focus on getting involved in new hobbies or interests.

• Time management skills are taught to allow patients to better use their time so they have less opportunity to think about relapse.

• Patients learn to identify drug use triggers and how to deal with these triggering situations when they come up. If patients have a plan for various tempting situations, they are more likely to put their plan into action and avoid relapse.

These are only a couple of the systems that rehab centers use to help addicts, but these systems and techniques are exactly what is needed to really successfully address and handle addiction once and for all and in a big way too.  With inpatient rehab, those who are afflicted and addicted in and around can finally call themselves free and clear and to the degree that each and every addict becomes rehabilitated, San Carlos will become free from drug and alcohol addiction and from substance abuse in general.
