About the City of Redding, California: The City in Review, in Summary, and Analyzed

Redding, officially known as the City of Redding, is the county seat of Shasta County, California in the northern part of the state itself.  The city is located on the Sacramento River, which provided transportation and power in its early and formative years.  Interstate 5 passes close to the city too, which has a population of 89,861 all in all.  Redding is the largest city in the Shasta Cascade region, and it is the fourth-largest city in the Sacramento Valley, behind Sacramento, Elk Grove, and Roseville respectively.

Redding has a very, very successful and diversified service economy with employment spread across a wide range of professional services including but not in the slightest limited to health care services, retail, and tourism alike.  In fact, the economy in Redding is so strong that as of April 2014, the employment rate in Redding was well over ninety percent, with the majority of Redding citizens being employed in the Educational and Health Services industry.  Other notable categories of employment in this highly successful area includes the Shasta County and Redding Municipal Government, the Trade, Transportation and Utilities industry, as well as the Leisure and Hospitality Industry.

Since the late 1990s and into the early 2000s, Redding’s economy has diversified quite a bit away from timber mills and other wood-products industries as it used to be known for.  Through much of the post-World War II era, Redding’s economy was supported by timber mills and other wood-products industry based on lumber from the forests, public and private, in the surrounding mountains and geographic areas around the city.  In the late 1980s and early 1990s however, environmental restrictions, (most notably in fact the listing of the northern spotted owl as a threatened species under the Endangered Species Act), led to a dramatic but much appreciated reduction in timber harvests in the national forest.  Industrial logging on private lands of course continues but automation has also reduced lumber employment significantly.  Sierra Pacific Industries, the largest private landowner in California, has its headquarters and several mills in the greater Redding area too.

Drug Addiction and Substance Abuse on the Rise in Redding, California

Without a doubt, the drug addiction and substance abuse issue that has hit hard in all other parts of the nation has not missed Redding by any means at all.  In fact, the issue here is just as bad if not more worse off than it is in other California towns and cities.  True enough, drug abuse and addiction is a major issue wherever anyone goes these days, but some cities and towns suffer more often and in more ways and more seriously than others do.

For Redding, it is the city’s powerful economy and structured work force that has made it a prime location for drug abuse and addiction there.  In truth, drug dealers and traffickers are now intentionally targeting better-off cities and cities that have stronger economies as they stand to make more money in areas like that than they do in other, poorer, more restricted and inhibited areas and towns.  Without a doubt, this is a serious issue and it will only get more and more serious if something isn’t done soon to handle and address it.

Rehabilitation: How Redding can Beat the Trap of Addiction and Substance Abuse

In truth, drug addiction and substance abuse is a major issue all across the nation.  Redding isn’t the only city that’s suffered in the nation, in the state of California, or even in just that area of California either.  In truth, any individual who is addicted to drugs or alcohol anywhere needs help and can get that help if he or she looks for it and tries his or her best at it.

For the addicted residents of Redding and for addicts everywhere, the solution lies in those addicted to take a course through an inpatient, residential, drug and alcohol addiction and dependence treatment center, detox facility, rehab program, and recovery organization.  With such program anyone in Redding who is addicted to anything can win the battle against addiction once and for all and in a very big way.  With rehab to help guide the way for those who are addicted, all Redding addicts stand a chance at winning the battle against addiction once and for all.  With a combination of detox to handle any and all signs and strains of chemical dependence from the physical aspect of drug and alcohol addiction and with counseling and therapy to handle all of the many mental aspects of drug and alcohol addiction and substance abuse, truly anyone who is addicted to anything in Redding can go free from their addictions once and for all and for good.
