Palmdale Drug Rehabilitation

Palmdale is a well-known and popular mid-sized city in the center of northern Los Angeles County, in the U.S. state of California.  The San Gabriel Mountains separate Palmdale from the City of Los Angeles itself, though the city is still close enough to Los Angeles that it often acts as a bedroom community for Los Angeles workers.

On August 24, of the year 1962, Palmdale became the first community in the Antelope Valley to incorporate itself.  A full forty-seven years later in November 2009 voters approved making it a charter city.  Its population was 152,750 at the 2010 census as researched by the United States Census Bureau, up from only 116,670 at the 2000 census.  Palmdale is the 33rd most populous city in California, and it is also one of the fastest growing cities in the entire state.  In the year 2013, the Palmdale/Lancaster urban area had an estimated population of 513,547.

Palmdale is known for many things, but perhaps the one thing that has earned the city the most fame is its work on aerospace craft building and design.  The city even refers to itself with the nickname of the, “aerospace capital of the United States”, and has been the site of research, development, final assembly, flight testing and/or servicing/modifications of the Space Shuttle, B-1 Lancer, X-15, B-2 Spirit, F-117 Nighthawk, F-35 Lightning II, SR-71 Blackbird, Lockheed L-1011 Tristar, and many other aircraft that have been used in the United States Air Force, NASA and air forces and airlines around the world.

Drug Addiction, Alcohol Addiction, and Substance Abuse: Troubling Issues in Palmdale Today

Drug addiction and substance abuse is on the rise in Palmdale, as it is in many other cities and towns all across the greater LA area and all across California for that matter.  Drugs like heroin, cocaine, crack, and meth are becoming major items of interest in this city, and legal drugs like prescription medications and alcohol are also rising rapidly in popularity.

What occurred here in Palmdale was the same as what occurred in many other cities that are near to Los Angeles.  Following the economic recession of 2008, many of the drug dealers and trafficker of LA could no longer find business, so they instead went out into the more prosperous and wealthier communities and suburban areas to try and pedal their dope.  The result has been a full on drug abuse issue that has hit hard in Palmdale.  In fact, it is worried that if nothing is done to remedy the situation soon then things will become far, far worse before it gets any better.

Facts and Statistics: What is Really Going on in Palmdale, California

To highlight and examine the exact issues as they are occurring in Palmdale, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, (SAMHSA), the National Survey on Drug Use and Health, (NSDUH), the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, (NIAAA), the National Institute on Drug Abuse, (NIDA), and other organizations and affiliates all worked together to try and understand and study this situation as best as was possible.  In doing so, it was discovered that the situation was indeed pretty serious.

Listed below are just some of the facts and statistics that apply to Palmdale and the state of California in general, included here to provide the reader with some real world data as to how serious this is:

• Almost 36 percent of all meth users are between the ages of 26 and 35, in California, making it the drug that is not only rising in popularity the most in the state, but also the drug that tailors the most to a very specific age range.

• In the year 2010, around 10,000 people died in alcohol-impaired driving crashes in the state of California, totaling out to one every 51 minutes.

• In the state of California, 56 percent of all Marijuana users are between the ages of 12 and 20.  Marijuana is also the number one gateway drug, and studies show that more than a third of those young adults who abuse marijuana will go on to abuse other, more dangerous and deadly drugs.

Rehabilitation: The Way out of the Addiction Trap for Palmdale Residents

To effectively fight and win against drug addiction and substance abuse, it is often necessary for an individual to hang it up and decide to enter into an inpatient, residential, drug and alcohol addiction and dependence treatment center, detox facility, rehabilitation program, and recovery organization.  Inpatient rehab centers are by far the most successful of all the different approaches to battling addiction.  Inpatient rehab centers offer services and programs that can simply eradicate any and all types of addiction in an individual, on both mental and physical levels as well.

For Palmdale residents, the obvious answer to their plight is a course through an inpatient rehab program.  Because of the severity of the issue in Palmdale, it is now being recommended for the residents of that once fine city who are addicted to drugs or alcohol to seek out inpatient rehab as soon as is physically possible so that the city can get back to the wonder that it once had.
