About the City of Napa: The Area and its Qualities in Review and in Summary

The city of Napa is well known as the county seat of Napa County in the state of California, in the United States.  It is easily the principal city of the Napa County Metropolitan Statistical Area too, which encompasses all of Napa County.  As of the 2010 census as reported by the United States Census Bureau, the city had a total population of 76,915.  Napa was incorporated as a city in 1872, though there had been a settlement there for many decades prior.

Today, the City of Napa enjoys a blossoming arts and culture environment in its own, special way.  The city has sensational venues for the performing arts and a variety of galleries too, all in a place where the three-hour dinner is considered an art form in and of itself.  With some 50 parks of all types and sizes, the City of Napa also presents plentiful, lovely choices for those looking for outdoor enjoyment too.  City parks are dotted all across the city and they range from simple turf spaces found in most every neighborhood, to the stately and historic Fuller Park, to the wide-open and undeveloped space of Alston Park, and to the multiple uses possible in Kennedy Park along the Napa River.  All in all, the city has made a name for itself for being a pleasant and lovely park that many can enjoy.

Drug Addiction and Substance Abuse on the Rise in Napa, California

Sadly, while this city has excelled and improved itself in many areas, drug addiction and substance abuse in general has come up as quite an issue for the residents of the area.  In truth, many who live there are not aware of it, but there is a rising drug addiction crisis in Napa that is especially affecting the youth population of the city.  It is feared that, if something isn’t done soon to reverse this trend that it is very likely that it will just get worse and worse till the city has a full on addiction epidemic on their hands.

Facts and Statistics: What is Really Going On in Napa and Across the Nation

To better understand the drug addiction crisis as it is currently affecting Napa, some facts and statistics about the issue have been listed below:

•    Over 30,000 students each year need emergency health care at a hospital for alcohol overdose.

  • One in eight college students reports injuries and mishaps that almost all result from alcohol use and abuse in general.  One in twenty college students reports alcohol-related injuries severe enough to require medical treatment on an annual basis.  True enough, many have begun to consume alcohol with an increased voracity, but many others have thankfully taken head to these warnings as well.

•    The wholesale price of a kilogram of cocaine has continued to drop since 1981, when it was about $55,000, making it now far more accessible for middle class and even lower class and poverty class Americans.  In 1984, the average was about $25,000 per kilogram.  By 2010, nationwide prices had dropped all the way down to $10,000 a kilo.

•    Ecstasy is the nation’s new club drug by far.  The drug is getting more and more popular as the years go by.  In June of 2000 for example, the U.S. Customs Service intercepted some 9 million tablets of Ecstasy being smuggled into the United States.  In July 2000, the U.S. Customs Service at Los Angeles International Airport seized 16 packages containing 2.1 million Ecstasy tablets, (1,096 pounds), with an estimated street value of at least $41 million all in all.

Drug Addiction Rehabilitation: How to Win Against Addiction in Napa, California

Fighting against addiction is never an easy thing for anyone.  For those struggling in Napa, the issue itself is new and different, and in many ways is much worse than it is in other areas.  An excessive amount of trafficked drugs plus excessive alcohol abuse coupled with extensive prescription drug abuse make for a dismal addiction situation in Napa.  Many in this area feel as though their addictions are so severe that they will never know true recovery and freedom or even the faintest hint of sobriety.  It is true that many in Napa who are addicted are addicted to a much greater extent than many other addicts in other areas simply because of the substances that are used and abused in Napa.

The key to winning the battle against drug and alcohol addiction lies in taking a course through a full and complete inpatient, residential, drug and alcohol addiction and dependence treatment center, detox facility, rehabilitation program, and recovery organization. It is only with this type of center that those addicted in Napa will be able to truly beat their addiction habits once and for all. These types of centers offer very extensive and well-rounded detoxification facilities for the proper withdrawal and wean down of any and all addictive substances. These California drug rehab centers also offer very extensive and involved rehabilitation services so that counseling can be applied to each and every addict so that he or she can address and handle all of the various mental and personal aspects of addiction that might have developed over the course of time spent abusing drugs and alcohol. With a combination of both detox and rehab counseling, anyone can actually win the battle against addiction once and for all.
