Moorpark is a lovely and pleasant city in Ventura County in Southern California, in the United States.  Moorpark was actually officially founded when the application for the Moorpark Post Office was granted on June 1, 1900.  The town site of Moorpark was owned and surveyed by Robert Poindexter and his wife, Madeline around that same time.  The town has experienced a great amount of growth since the late 1970s which has continued into present day. The population was 34,421 at the 2010 census as reported by the United States Census Bureau, up from 31,415 at the 2000 census.

Moorpark is known by its locals, its visitors, and by residents of neighboring towns for its impeccable home-like feel and its insistence on holding local events and community gatherings.  A few events are held in the Moorpark area during the year in fact, the most notable being the Moorpark “Country Days”, a single day in late September or early October, American Civil War battle reenactments in early-November.  Another is the “Apricot Festival”, which is usually held in the spring or summer, and an annual fireworks celebration on the third of July every year. The July 3rd fireworks are popular around the rest of Ventura County, as people can go to the Moorpark fireworks on the 3rd, and still see their own local city’s fireworks on July 4 as well.

Moorpark has been and is a pleasant and comfortable town to live in.  It is relatively close to other, bigger cities so it can be used as a bedroom community, but it is also far enough away that some residents can settle down there and just call the city their home.  Moorpark has earned a reputation for itself for being homely and pleasant.

A Spread of Addiction Across California has Affected Moorpark

Sadly, drug abuse and addiction has been on the rise all across the state of California and across the nation for that matter.  There is no doubt about it, this is a city and an area that has struggled time and time again since the turn of the century and has shown little to no signs of reducing or cutting back in severity or intensity.  Moorpark is just one of many different cities that has been adversely affected by this spread.

Moorpark is a very family-oriented city, and that truth has led to addiction making a very huge problem there.  Whether a young adult is addicted to drugs or alcohol or an older adult is, the result is often that those addicted and afflicted also often have a negative impact on their family members and loved ones.  They also often spread addiction into and around the city, causing it to affect more and more local residents.

Facts and Statistics Showcasing the True Severity of Drug and Alcohol Addiction

There is no doubt about it, drug and alcohol abuse and addiction has been a gradually worsening problem in the nation and for some time too.  This is not just an issue in California; it is something that has been a problem all across the nation.  For example:

• Alcoholism and alcohol abuse as an addiction problem are among the most common, devastating, and costly problems in the United States by far.  In fact, recent studies have shown that approximately 53 percent of adults in the United States have reported that one or more of their close relatives has a drinking problem.  There are over fifteen million Americans who are definitely addicted to alcohol, and alcohol abuse costs the nation over two-hundred billion dollars annually.

Moorpark does not have to suffer needlessly with addiction issues.  This is a city that used to have very little to no addiction issues, and now it has a lot of them.  The problem has come and gone and gotten more severe and worsened too as the years have gone by, with the result always being more hardship and sadness.  In the end though, rehabilitation does exist as a very effective and successful way to beat addiction once and for all.
