Modesto Drug Rehabilitation

Officially being the City of Modesto, Modesto is the county seat and largest city of Stanislaus County, in the state of California, in the United States.  With a population of approximately 201,165 at the 2010 census, Modesto ranks as the 18th largest city in the entire state of California.

As for its geographical perks, Modesto is located in the Central Valley, 90 miles north of Fresno, 40 miles north of Merced, California, 92 miles east of San Francisco, and 68 miles south of the state capital of Sacramento.  Modesto has been honored as the Tree City USA numerous times.  The city is one of the most beautiful in all of the Pacific West.  It is surrounded by rich farmland, as Stanislaus County ranks sixth among California counties in farm production.  Led by milk, almonds, chickens, walnuts, and corn silage, the county grossed nearly $3.1 billion in agricultural production in 2011.

Modesto has earned its fame and popularity in multiple different ways.  For example, The Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index for 2011, which interviews 1,000 participants daily and asks individuals to assess their jobs, finances, physical health, emotional state of mind and communities, ranked Modesto 126 out of all of the 190 cities surveyed.   In December of 2009, Forbes ranked Modesto 48th out of 100 among “Best Bang-for-the-Buck Cities”.  In this ranking, Modesto ranked 8th in housing affordability and travel time but it also ranked 86th in job forecast growth and 99th in overall foreclosures.

Drug Addiction and Substance Abuse Hitting Hard in Modesto, California

Without a doubt, the city of Modesto has recently come under a significant mouth of drug addiction and substance abuse amongst its residents.  This is a city that has had small, isolated incidences of drug abuse and addiction throughout the decades, but the city has never seen the type of prevalence and regularity of drug addiction and substance abuse that has been running rampant through the city more recently.

Now, drug addiction and substance abuse is a much more common thing in Modesto just as it is much more common in other California cities.  it is feared in fact, that if something isn’t done about the prescription drug abuse, the heroin abuse, and the cocaine abuse that is occurring in the city of Modesto then it is feared that the situation will only get much, much worse before it gets any better.

Facts and Statistics: Drug Addiction Booming Nationwide

Modesto is not the only place that has come under a significant amount of drug addiction and substance abuse lately.  In fact, the entire country of the United States has begun to experience significant increases in drug abuse and addiction in each and every state.

The National Survey on Drug Use and Health, (NSDUH), along with the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, (SAMSHA), the National Survey on Drug Use and Health, (NIDA), the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, (CDC), the Trust for American Health, (TAH), and the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, (NIAAA), have all worked together to study and research the increases in drug abuse that have been occurring nationwide.  The idea here was to study drug abuse in cities like Modesto all across the nation to better understand the nation’s drug crisis.  Listed below are some of the findings of these studies, included here so as to provide the reader with context as to just how serious of an issue this really is:

• There is a direct connection to the use of methamphetamine and the overall American work ethic. As many as 9.4 million Americans have used the drug of crystal meth of something similar to it at least once. Many users are workers, high school students and truck drivers.

• In 1999, 14.8 million Americans used illicit drugs.  About 3.5 million are dependent on illicit drugs and 8.2 million people are dependent on alcohol.  Now, just sixteen years later, the number has skyrocketed to a full 23.5 million people who have not only used illicit drugs, but who are addicted to illicit drugs and alcohol.

• Every day, 3,000 kids become regular smokers, and a third of them will eventually die of tobacco-related causes. Meanwhile, two out of three 12- to 17-year-olds who smoked cigarettes in the last year show signs of addiction.  Studies also show that, while obviously not many individuals who smoke actually do become drug addicts, but smokers are more than twice as likely to abuse drugs than non-smokers.

Rehabilitation: The Source of Recovery and Relief for Addicted Modesto Residents

Obviously, the drug addiction crisis is serious not only on a large scale for the residents of Modesto and of California, but the addiction crisis is also very serious on an individual to individual basis as well.  For those who are actively addicted to drugs and alcohol, the situation can indeed seem very dire and upsetting.  in fact, many who abuse drugs and alcohol feel as though they will never be free from their addictions.  This does not have to be the case however.  In fact, anyone can beat a drug or alcohol addiction, no matter how severe it may be.

The key for those in Modesto who are addicted lies in a course through an inpatient, residential, drug and alcohol addiction and dependence treatment center, rehab organization, detox facility, and recovery program.  Only these types of centers can cure addiction, but they can help anyone who is addicted, no matter how severely addicted they might be.
