The City of Lynwood in Review and Summary
Lynwood is lovely and popular and pleasant city in Los Angeles County, in the state of California, in the United States. As of the 2010 census as reported by the United States Census Bureau, the city had a total population of 69,772, down from 69,845 at the next most recent 2000 census.
Lynwood is located near South Gate and Compton in the southern portion of the Los Angeles Basin. Incorporated as it was in 1921, the city is named for Mrs. Lynn Wood Sessions, wife of a local dairyman, Charles Sessions. The local railroad siding and later Pacific Electric Railway station were named after the dairy there. All in all, this is a simple and quiet yet affordable and pleasant suburb of the greater LA area.
Facts and Statistics: Drug and Alcohol Addiction Hits Hard in Lynwood and Across the Nation
Sadly, drug and alcohol addiction has been on the rise in Lynwood in a very big way. This is a city that never really used to struggle with addiction that much until recently, and now the problem has gotten very bad indeed. Listed below are some statistics on the issue:
• Narcotic pain relievers like OxyContin, Vicodin, Percocet, Opana, and Dilaudid now cause or contribute to nearly three out of every four prescription drug overdoses and about 15,500 actual deaths among Americans every year. In truth, the drugs that are supposed to relieve pain are actually killing thousands. Studies have shown that some people exhibit higher risk factors and may be more vulnerable to prescription drug abuse than others but the fact remains that abusing any type of prescription drug at all is risky and dangerous at best.
• According to studies performed at the Mayo Clinic and also at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, many people, (including parents), are often unaware of the dangers in providing prescribed medication to those who are not the intended patient. In truth, the medical industry and the pharmaceutical industry both stand to benefit so much from the sale of prescription drugs that the dangers and risks of taking these drugs are quite often swept under the rug and essentially hidden from view from the average American.
• It may come as a shocker but the truth is that 55.7 percent of those 12 and older who misused pain relievers said they received their medications from a friend or family member, and the vast majority of those friends and families had gotten the drugs from just one doctor. Not only does this truth bring into question the average level of ethics and morality of the current medical field, but it also brings into question whether or not prescription drugs are really worth it to have around.
Rehabilitation: How the Residents of Lynwood are Beating Addiction for Themselves and their Loved Ones
One of the things that has been plaguing Lynwood for a few years now is the cruel misery that is drug and alcohol addiction. Drug and alcohol addiction is a lot more common in the United States now than it was 20 years ago. In fact, since about 2008, all 50 states in the United States began to see a very strong and steady rise in substance-abuse, drug trafficking, drug dealing, drug-related crimes, drug related injuries, drug related deaths, alcohol abuse, alcohol overdoses, alcohol related deaths, and many of the other cruel aspects of drug and alcohol addiction.
The fact of the matter is that drug and alcohol addiction and substance abuse in general is most definitely on the rise in Lynwood, as it is in many other areas. This has left many of the residents of Lynwood groping for answers to their new addiction crisis. What can a city possibly do when so many of its residents are becoming heavily addicted to drugs and alcohol? How much does rehab cost and can I afford it? This situation is a severe one to say the least, as no one has yet to find a cure-all method of addressing addiction that will fit for everyone who is addicted. Thankfully though, there may yet be hope for those addicted in Lynwood.
The answer to winning the battle against a substance abuse crisis in any one individual lies in that individual taking a course through a full, accredited, successful, reputable, inpatient, drug and alcohol addiction and dependence treatment center, detox facility, rehabilitation program, and recovery organization. It is only these types of programs that offer the services needed to address and eradicate every single aspect of addiction. Addressing addiction is a lot like addressing cancer. Unless every single little bit of the cancer is found and gotten rid of, the cancer is almost guaranteed to come back. Even if all of the cancer is completely removed from the individual there is still a small chance that it will come back. This is exactly what it is like with addiction too. However, inpatient rehabilitation programs give an individual the highest chance of being able to stay sober for the rest of his or her life because inpatient rehabilitation programs can and will address and eradicate every single aspect of addiction once and for all.
With a combination of detox to handle the physical side of addiction and rehabilitation itself to address the mental side, one is capable with rehab to go fully and completely free from addiction thanks to these extensive therapies. With rehab, anyone addicted and Lynwood can finally find freedom and solace from addiction.
