Los Altos is a lovely city that rests at the southern end of the San Francisco Peninsula, in the infamous San Francisco Bay Area. The city is in Santa Clara County, in the state of California, in the United States of America. The population was 28,976 according to the 2010 census as reported by the United States Census Bureau.
Most of the city’s current growth was a result of a boom that occurred between 1950 and 1980. Originally known for being an agricultural town with many summer cottages and apricot orchards, Los Altos is now an affluent bedroom community that has made waves all across the area for being one of the most pleasant places to live in and around this area. Los Altos has several distinctive features that really showcase this city as being something special indeed.
Homes and other real estate are costly in Los Altos and have been for some time now. The median household income of Los Altos for 2009-2013 was $157,907. The average listing price in 2014 was $1.96 million. In 2015, Forbes put Los Altos (ZIP codes 94022 and 94024) as the 11th and 57th most expensive ZIP codes in the United States. Los Altos means “the heights” or “foothill” in Spanish. Living in the city is highly desirable, but the sheer costs of the area mean that few can actually afford it.
In the year of 2015, Forbes historically placed Los Altos (ZIP codes 94022 and 94024) as the 11th and 57th most expensive ZIP codes in the United States, behind such cities as Atherton, California and Sagaponack, New York. For the 94022 ZIP code, which includes parts of Los Altos Hills, California the median home price is $4.9 million with an average of 120 days on the market. For the 94024 ZIP code, the median home price is $2.8 million with an average of 36 days on the market. This city is top notch, and it has been becoming more and more top notch as years have gone by. Many feel that the city can only go up from here.
Drug and Alcohol Abuse and Addiction Makes a Strong Appearance in and Around Los Altos
Sadly, drug and alcohol abuse is now making a strong appearance in this once relatively clean and sober city. The sad truth of this is that more and more Americans all across the country have fallen prey to addiction in recent years. The reality and gravity of the situation is that the number of American drug and alcohol addicts has almost doubled in just the last few years.
Upper middle class and upper class cities and towns were some of the last cities to be affected by this tide as these cities are better protected from problems like this, but even these cities have now been heavily damaged by addiction. Los Altos is one of them. Young adults in this city in particular have been sold thousands upon thousands of dollars’ worth of narcotics, and many of the youth of this area can now admit to having abused drugs, and to becoming addicted to drugs. Something needs to be done about this soon if any progress is hoped to be made along this line.
Rehabilitation: How to Win the Battle Against Addiction Once and for All
Los Altos, like many other cities of a similar size in this state has begun to suffer with significant drug problems. This has never really been a problem before, as in decades past substance abuse usually only affected only bigger cities and heavily suburban and metropolitan areas. Now however substance abuse and addiction has been spreading out into outlying cities, small towns, bedroom communities, and isolated urban areas. Los Altos is one such city that has suffered in this way.
Essentially what happened was that, shortly after the economic crisis of 2008 struck, most drug addicted individuals in the United States who lived in bigger cities could no longer afford substances. Drug dealers had to turn their attention on to the middle-class and upper middle-class small town America. As these areas had little to no experience with drug addiction and substance abuse in general before, the sheer severity of drugs suddenly being in cities like Los Altos had a very harsh affect.
This is not an unsolvable problem though. With the help of inpatient, residential, drug and alcohol addiction and dependence treatment centers, detox facilities, rehabilitation programs, and recovery organizations it becomes possible for those who are addicted in and around this area to safely and effectively win the battle against drug and alcohol.
With inpatient rehabilitation, freedom from addiction can finally be achieved. With inpatient rehabilitation, when would she have a full detoxification program to handle chemical dependence. Inpatient rehabilitation programs also offer counseling and therapy to address psychological addiction. With inpatient treatment, anyone who is addicted in Los Altos can finally find freedom, and this is what is needed here to rid the area of addiction once and for all.
Addiction is insidious because it can be so hard to recognize. People who suffer from chemical dependency often don’t understand the full extent of their problem. Loved ones of people who suffer from addiction might not realize how bad the problem is either a... Read More...
