Lomita is a well-known and desired city in Los Angeles County, in the state of California, in the United States of America. The population was 20,256 at the 2010 census as reported by the United States Census Bureau, up from 20,046 at the 2000 census. The word, “lomita”, is actually a Spanish word for, “little knoll.”

Lomita is an average, middle class suburban town.  The median income for a household in the city ranked in at $51,360, and the median income for a family came in at $53,003. Males had a median income of $41,582 versus $31,353 for females. The per capita income for the city was about $27,748 all in all. About 9.3% of families and 11.1% of the population lived below the poverty line, including 15.3% of those under age 18 and 11.0% of those aged 65 or over.  All pretty average for an average middle class Californian town.

Lomita has been around for a long time and has served as an important suburban and residential town for LA citizens for many years now.  This is a city that has made good progress in lots of different ways for many decades now, and it currently stands out as being a crucial supporting city to the LA metro area.

Drug and Alcohol Abuse in Lomita

One of the biggest problems in California right now has been with that of drug and alcohol abuse and addiction.  These problems are some of the worst by far and they have been that way for some time now.  There are problems in the LA area specifically that are pretty rare in other states, and that is the ever present expansion of drugs and alcohol out of the key, inner, metro cities and out into the outlying suburbs and upper-middle class towns and areas.  This is pretty concerning to say the least but it is definitely an issue that needs to be taken into consideration and addressed properly.  To give some context to these issues, some facts and statistics have been included on it below:

• There has been some concern when it comes to increasing alcohol abuse in the United States, especially in supporting cities to LA like Lomita.

• The problem here is that alcohol use and abuse is a lot more accepted now than it ever way before. The result has been more than sixty thousand deaths annually from alcohol abuse and more than 20 million alcohol addicts in the entire nation.

• This all stems back to a simple increase in the acceptance level for this substance. If it wasn’t so highly accepted then it would not be abused so much.

• Meth also is a big problem in and around Lomita, with about five percent of the population being addicted to it.

Rehabilitation Sought as a Solution

Substance abuse, drug addiction, alcohol addiction, all of this has been the way of life in Lomita for some time now.  This city is totally unique and very different, and thusly it has had a very unique and different drug problem too.  For Lomita, though it is a relatively nice and pleasant city, is also undergoing a meth addiction problem the likes of which no city of a similar size in this state has ever felt before.  True enough, this is an issue that is totally unique to Lomita and has been for some time now.

Meth has owned the streets of Lomita.  When it comes to the young adult population of the city, sadly about one half of them have tried meth at least once, and about a third of them are addicted to it.  Though meth is not a big city or a huge metro area by any means at all, that hasn’t stopped addiction from stepping in and trying to take over.  Sure enough, addiction is a big deal in Lomita and has been for some time now, particularly with the young adults of the city and the working class adults too.  The problem seems to just worsen too, as more and more issues become prevalent as being the top substance abuse concerns and issues that this nation has.

What can the residents of Lomita do about their meth problem?  Meth is the new cocaine, by which is meant that it is easily the most addictive drug of the 21t century.  That being said, it is incredibly hard and difficult to address properly, and it is very trying and troubling for those who do become addicted to it.  It can even kill people who take too much of it, and a strong percentage of those who take it will become addicted to it and will have a whole plethora of bad experiences thanks to it.

With inpatient, residential, drug and alcohol addiction treatment and rehabilitation the drug problem can be turned around once and for all and for good in Lomita.  That is exactly what this city needs, and they need it fast, before it is too late. For the crisis to be averted here, all those who are addicted to drugs and alcohol will need to hurry along and get into an inpatient rehab center.  In this way, and only in this way will true, positive change come about for the individual.
