A Brief Summary of the City of Lake Forest, California
Lake Forest is a well-known and popular and populous city in Orange County, California. The population was 77,264 at the 2010 census as reported by the United States Census Bureau. As for its history, Lake Forest was officially incorporated as a city on December 20, 1991. Prior to its incorporation, the community had been known as El Toro instead. A major expansion of the city occurred in the year 2000 that brought new homes and commercial centers to the Northeastern boundary of the city. As for the fame and recognition of the city, Lake Forest, (along with its neighboring cities Mission Viejo and Irvine) is ranked as one of the safest cities in the entire country.
Lake Forest has perhaps one of the nicest geographies in the entire areas. For example, the city has two lakes from which the city gets its name. The lakes are both man-made, and condominiums and custom homes ranging from large to small line their shores too. Neighborhood associations manage the lakes themselves.
The “forest” for which the city is also named lies in the area between Ridge Route, Jeronimo, Lake Forest and Serrano roads, and consists mostly of Eucalyptus trees and other similar trees and plants. This beautiful area is also man-made, and was created in the first decade of the 1900s when a local landowner, Dwight Whiting, planted 400 acres of Eucalyptus groves in the vicinity of Serrano Creek as part of a lumber operation intended to draw development to the area and to boom the population there. Between the forest and the lakes, Lake Forest is by far now one of the most strongly desired places to live in the entire state.
Drug Addiction and Substance Abuse on the Rise in the City of Lake Forest
Sadly, this area has attracted quite a bit of significant drug and alcohol abuse and addiction for all those who are involved in the area and in the surrounding areas too. This is an area that never really used to struggle with drug addiction or substance abuse before, and that has only mad the situation that much worse.
For Lake Forest, alcohol, marijuana, and meth have been the three most commonly used and abused substances by far. Though this issue knight be tricky at first, and it certainly is difficult, there can be a way out of the trap for those who are willing to try hard enough at it and to give in there all once and for all.
Facts and Statistics about Drug and Alcohol Addiction in the City of Lake Forest
To better understand the problem as it is currently occurring not only in Lake Forest but in other areas too, some facts and statistics have been effectively included below:
• In truth and in reality, alcohol kills more teenagers than all other drugs combined in fact. It is a factor in the three leading causes of death too among 15-24 year olds, these being: accidents, homicides, and suicides. For even more information on it, data from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, (CDC), shows to us that over 33% of all deaths for people aged 15-20 result from motor vehicle crashes. In recent years, almost two out of five of any and all motor vehicle fatalities involved alcohol.
• Methamphetamine’s street value is nor ranking in at approximately $3,000 per pound, (about the size of a brick), while the price of cocaine is roughly $11,000 per pound. Again, cocaine is stronger and more addictive but meth is cheaper which means that more people will go for the meth all in all.
• Almost half of all Americans will try marijuana before they even graduate high school. To add some more insight to that, about 21% of 10th graders surveyed are “current” marijuana users, (meaning that they had used the drug within the past month at the very least). Among high school seniors surveyed in the year 1997, current marijuana use, (meaning use within the past month), has increased by about 72% since 1991. The increase happened again between 1997 and 2007, but this time it more than doubled.
