About the City of Hawthorne: The Area in Review and in Summary

Hawthorne is a well-known and popular city in southwestern Los Angeles County, in the state of California.  The city at the 2010 census had a population of 84,293, up from 84,112 at the 2000 census and in 2013 a population of 86,199 all as reported by the United States Census Bureau.

Incorporated as it was in the year 1922, the City of Hawthorne currently has a population of nearly 87,000 within just a six square mile area.  Ideally located as it is very, very near the Los Angeles International Airport, connected conveniently by rail to the Port of Los Angeles and downtown Los Angeles, and surrounded by the San Diego (I-405), Harbor (I-110), and Glenn M. Anderson (I-105) Freeways, the City of Hawthorne could easily be termed the “Hub of the South Bay.”

By its location alone, this is an ideal city to live as it offers easy transportation routes to many other areas for business, recreation, or personal adventures.  Also by virtue of its location, Hawthorne affords easy, quick access to all that Southern California offers too not for just work or business like: culture, sports, entertainment, mountains, and beaches.  Temperatures in the area are always among the most pleasant in the Los Angeles basin too due to prevailing breezes in the area.

The City of Hawthorne is considered to be one of the most dedicated in preserving the quaint setting of the city and providing the best living experience to those that call Hawthorne or to those who would call Hawthorne home in the future.  The city possesses a shared vision towards the future to create a great city and build an economy which supports the community’s desire for a high quality of life.

Drug Addiction and Substance Abuse: Hawthorne’s Addiction Crisis as it is Occurring Today

Sadly, the popularity of this town has unfortunately has brought on a significant amount of attention from drug cartels, drug dealers, drug traffickers, and drug traders in general.  True enough, it is now the nice, middle class, upper middle class, and upper class that are being targeted the most by drug dealers and drug criminals.  In a lot of ways this is due to the recession and the effects that that had on the fiscal abilities of lower class and poverty class Americans to afford to abuse drugs or alcohol.  Now, it is the middle and upper classes that are often at the most risk for being exposed to drug abuse and addiction.

For Hawthorne, the problem has by far been with drug abuse amongst the young adult population of the city. If something is not done soon to try and correct or prevent the issue or in some way, shape, or form hold it back or stop it, it is certainly likely that the issue will go completely overboard to the point where the entire city is suffering with a drug abuse and addiction epidemic.
