Farmersville is a lovely and pleasant city in the rural San Joaquin Valley in Tulare County, in the state of California, in the United States. The town rests just to the east of Visalia, California. The population of Farmersville was 10,588 at the 2010 census, up quite a bit from 8,737 at the prior 2000 census.
The city of Farmersville is not actually that much of a farm town. The city used to be in years past, but now it is more of just a residential area, and a cultural and tourism center. The city has been known to host many events throughout the year, including a Fall Festival the first weekend in October and a Memorial Day Parade too which is one of the best in that sector of the state. Both are extremely well-attended and manage to draw visitors from the surrounding areas. The Memorial Day Parade in particular has earned recognition all across the state.
Farmersville has a strong and a stable economy and is well based and well founded. The city actually serves mostly as a commuter town with many residents having to travel to the larger population centers to seek employment, but they choose Farmersville for its small town feel and its pleasant, quiet, and aesthetic environment. The local commerce there is composed of mostly small, family-owned businesses, however the city also hosts a number of major chain stores and restaurants too, including restaurants like McDonalds, Jack-In-The-Box, Subway Sandwich Shop, Taco Bell, and Family Dollar stores as well as AutoZone, Napa, and O’Reilly’s auto parts stores too. The city is definitely starting to build up and develop a strong internal revenue of its own.
Farmersville is also known for its industrial strength. Major industrial manufacturers with operations in Farmersville include Cemex, Dunns Sand, and National Raisin Company which operates a fruit dehydrator in the city. These provide steady and stable jobs throughout the city and the surrounding areas too. La Mejor del Valle tortilla factory, a manufacturer of Mexican food products, is headquartered in Farmersville as well and provides jobs for many.
Fighting Addiction in Farmersville
Sadly, drug and alcohol addiction and substance abuse in general has become quite the problem in the once peaceful and totally substance abuse-free town of Farmersville. What has been occurring all across the nation is that drug addiction problems have been spreading outwards from bigger cities and metro areas and into small towns and rural cities. This spread has been occurring more and more often lately, and it has been especially prominent in California.
Following the economic crisis of 2008, a lot of regular substance abusers in big California cities could no longer afford drugs. To deal with this change, big city drug dealers, traffickers, criminals, drug pushers, and entire drug cartels and rings moved out of the big cities and set up shop in the outlying towns and rural areas. The new target? Small towns, bedroom communities, suburbs, supporting cities, small cities, unincorporated areas, rural towns, farming communities, and country settings. Though these areas obviously were not as heavily populated, drug dealers were able to get far more people hooked on drugs in these areas because first of all they had more money, and second of all they were not used to drugs and it was a new and exciting thing for them (especially for the young adults). All of this combined has meant bad news indeed for towns like Farmersville.
Addressing the Issue with Rehabilitation
Farmersville has recently been faced with an addiction crisis the likes of which it truly has never seen before. Indeed, there is a serious addiction crisis in Farmersville and it is causing a lot of damage and a lot of problems in this once relatively peaceful and quite pleasant city. There is a drug addiction crisis and problem here the likes of which has never been seen before, and it is really hurting a lot of the locals.
The fact that such a big drug problem is occurring in such a small city is surprising indeed, but the problem is also occurring all across the nation too, not just in Farmersville. The truth is that these issues are just getting worse and worse and are showing no real sign of getting any better any time soon. The drug problem all across California is pretty bad right now, but it is definitely Farmersville and other small cities and towns like it that have been getting hit the hardest by it.
What can be done when so much addiction and substance abuse exists in such a small town? The best way to address these issues is with inpatient, residential, drug and alcohol addiction and dependence treatment centers, detox facilities, rehab programs in CA, and recovery organizations. Truly, these are the key and the most needed and wanted of all when it comes to handling addiction. With inpatient rehab it actually does become possible to do something about addiction and to address it and to bring it out in the open and eradicate it in each and every person who struggles with it. It’s not easy. It takes a lot of work, but it is certainly doable.
The thing about addiction in Farmersville is that prevention alone will not work. You actually have to address the city’s actual addicts too. Only then can you really move forward with a successful plan for completely ridding an area of any remnant of addiction. With a twofold plan of attack of both addressing addiction through prevention and rehabilitation alike, this issue truly does become something of the past.
