A Little About Fairfield, What the City has to Offer

Fairfield is a well-known and popular city in, and the county seat of, Solano County in the state of California, in the United States.  It is generally considered to be the midpoint between the cities of San Francisco and Sacramento, and it rests approximately 36 miles from the city center of both cities, approximately 31 miles from the city center of Oakland, less than 19 miles from nearby Napa Valley, 16 miles from the Carquinez Bridge, and 14 miles from the Benicia Bridge.  Its convenient and well positioned location has made it very desirable for many potential residents and visitors alike.  The city of Fairfield was founded in the year 1856 by clipper ship captain Robert H. Waterman, and named after his former hometown of Fairfield, Connecticut.

Without a doubt, Fairfield has a lot going for it in today’s day and age.  The city combines a prime commercial real estate location, room for growing businesses too, and a large and talented work force as well.  Affordable housing for all who would seek it, good schools, and a very, very close proximity to many of the San Francisco Bay Area’s world-famous destinations make Fairfield attractive for employers and workers alike.

Formally incorporated and brought into existence in the year 1903, Fairfield is a thriving community where healthy families and strong businesses alike can flourish and prosper. The county seat since the year 1858, Fairfield represents a diverse, impressive, and bustling economy in the heart of Solano County.

The whole idea is that, in Fairfield, small town values remain strong in a modern day society.   An excellent quality of life can be found in Fairfield complete with low housing costs, and an array of retail options that all in all makes Fairfield an enjoyable place for families to live and work too.

Drug Addiction and Substance Abuse on the Rise in Fairfield

Sadly, drug addiction has been on the rise in the beautiful and prosperous city of Fairfield.  Without a doubt, this is a city that has flourished and prospered for years and years and years.  This is a city that has recently come under the influence of dry addiction in a big and major way.  Meth, cocaine, marijuana, and prescription drugs have been having a big effect here, and have caused quite a bit of drama and sadness in the once prosperous and drug free city.

When it comes to drug and alcohol addiction and substance abuse in Fairfield, the biggest issue has been with the youth population of the city.  Without a doubt, the young adults here have come under the influence of drug addiction and substance abuse in a much more serious way than ever before.  It is feared that, if something is not done soon to curb this issue, it is very likely that more and more residents will fall prey to drug and alcohol addiction as the years go by.

Facts and Statistics on the Issue

To better understand what it occurring not only in Fairfield, but also in other parts of California as well, there have been included some facts and statistics pertinent to California’s drug addiction and substance abuse problem below so as to provide the reader with context as to just how serious this issue is:

• The amount of overall cocaine seized along the California portion of the Southwest Border has steadily increased over the period 2001 to 2010.  While the amount of marijuana seized over time has declined, methamphetamine seizures continue to increase as well, with a veritable cocktail of cocaine and meth coming into California from Mexico.

• According to sad but true recent Fatal Accident Reporting System (FARS) data, one in three motor vehicle fatalities, (33 percent actually), in California with known drug test results tested positive for drugs in the year 2009.

• More than four percent of California residents reported using a hard, serious, dangerous, and deadly illicit street drug other than marijuana in the past month.  The national average for this type of abuse has only been at about three and a half percent.

Rehabilitation: How to Beat a Drug Habit

In Fairfield, many of the residents of the beleaguered city have in fact been able to win the battle of addiction once and for all and in a big way too.  This has been made possible by the efforts of inpatient, residential, drug and alcohol addiction and dependence treatment centers, detox facilities, rehab programs in CA, and recovery organizations.  Thanks to these organizations, many of the addicted residents of Fairfield have already been able to beat addiction, and if pressure is put on the rest to seek out rehabilitation, many more will be able to go free from addiction as well.
