Eureka is most easily recognized as the principal city and county seat of Humboldt County in the Redwood Empire region of the state of California, in the United States of America. The city is located on U.S. Route 101 on the shores of Humboldt Bay, 270 miles north of San Francisco and 100 miles south of the Oregon border.  At the 2010 census as reported by the United States Census Bureau, the population of the city was 27,191, and the population of Greater Eureka was 45,034.

Eureka is known for being the largest coastal city between San Francisco and Portland, and the westernmost city of more than 25,000 residents in the 48 contiguous states.  It is the regional center for government, health care, trade, and the arts on the North Coast north of the San Francisco Bay Area. Greater Eureka, one of California’s major commercial fishing ports, is the location of the largest deep-water port between San Francisco and Coos Bay, a stretch of about 500 miles.

To further increase the appeal of Eureka, the headquarters of both the Six Rivers National Forest and the North Coast Redwoods District of the California State Parks System are in Eureka too. As entrepôt for hundreds of lumber mills that once existed in the area, the city played a leading role in the historic West Coast lumber trade too, and that history has been preserved in the city too. The entire city is a state historic landmark, which has hundreds of significant Victorian homes, including the nationally-recognized Carson Mansion, and the city has retained its original 19th-century commercial core as a nationally recognized Old Town Historic District as well.  This aspect of the city draws tens of thousands of tourists every single year.  Eureka is home to California’s oldest zoo too, the Sequoia Park Zoo.

Rehabilitation: When it Comes to Handling the Problem in Eureka

Drug and alcohol addiction and the whole crisis that is substance abuse has steadily worsened on growing levels since the turn of the century. The problem has gotten more severe and serious each and every year, with some areas being more seriously affected than others. Eureka is one of those areas that has been very heavily affected with substance abuse problems, the worst of which has been heroin addiction, opiate prescription drugs, cocaine, and meth addiction.

The best solution for any drug problem in any given area lies in effective rehabilitation. More specifically, inpatient, residential, drug and alcohol addiction and dependence treatment centers, detox facilities, rehab programs in CA, and recovery organizations are the most successful in this endeavor. For Eureka, this is exactly the approach that is needed and it is needed now. Though the city is not a big one, it is still struggling and in a big way too. If the problem gets much worse, it could become unfixable.

Inpatient rehabilitation has the best services and facilities for those addicted in and around Eureka. The addictions that are accrued here are so strong and so severe that truly only inpatient rehab is sufficient to address these problems.
