About the City of Chino Hills
Chino Hills is a well-known and popular city and it is located in the southwestern corner of San Bernardino County, in the state of California, in the United States. The city actually borders Los Angeles County on its northwest side, Orange County to its south, and Riverside County to its southeast. The city had a population of 74,799 at the 2010 census as correctly reported by the United States Census Bureau.
Chino Hills was impressively ranked 34th in Money magazine’s well-known classification of the, “Best places to live in 2012.” It is also the 6th highest income place in the United States, (with population 65,000 to 250,000 that is), and was ranked as the 13th safest city in the United States in 2008 by the FBI. All in all, this is a well-known city that has made quite a reputation for itself.
Speaking of which, Chino Hills’ reputation is known in the national arena as well, and not just in California. Chino Hills was featured on the list of 87 of America’s hottest towns in the January 2004 issue of “Money” magazine. Chino Hills was ranked 8th on the list of “best places in the west with a population under 100,000” too. The “Money” magazine reviewed over a decade of data for communities with above average population growth, income, and home prices, “to see where people were most willing to devote a high multiple of their annual income to live happily ever after.” In many ways, Chino Hills scored high on multiple categories.
Drug and Alcohol Abuse on the Rise in Chino Hills
Sadly, a lot of great things might be going away for Chino Hills. This is a city that never really struggled with drug abuse, alcohol abuse, or substance abuse in general until very recently. In fact, the city had little to nothing to do with substance abuse for many years until more recenty. Now, seemingly attracted to the city’s successes, drug dealers and traffickers have been drawn to the city like flies to try and get out of the greater LA area and to try and sell drugs to more middle class and upper class Americans. It is feared that, unless something is done soon, drug and alcohol addiction will make an even bigger impact than it already has on this once peaceful and happy place.

• A follow up survey from the year 2012 done by the National Institute on Drug Abuse, (NIDA), found that a resounding 16 million people of the age of 12 and over reported using oxycodone for non-medical purposes at least once in their lifetime.
