About the City of Buena Park, California

Buena Park is a strong city and town in northwestern Orange County, California, just about 12 miles northwest of downtown Santa Ana, the county seat.  As of Census 2010, as reported by the recognized United States Census Bureau, the population ranked in at an ever 80,530.  The city, which tags itself as Center of the Southland, is home to several tourist attractions, most notably Knott’s Berry Farm.  It is located within the Los Angeles metropolitan area and serves as a part of it.

Literally, a vacation hot spot, the lively city of Buena Park is located just a mere simple 5 miles from Disneyland and 20 miles from Los Angeles.  The city is not only known for its premier location too, but for its world famous entertainment.  Here in Buena Park, one can enjoy over 30 exhilarating rides, visit the lovable Snoopy and the Peanuts Gang at Camp Snoopy, and pan for gold at the only authentic 1880’s Ghost Town.  Without a doubt, this is a city that prides itself on having something for everyone.

This city is not just a tourist town, though, as many still just live there and work there.   The city has preserved several buildings from the 1800’s and offers free tours of their Historic District. Knott’s Independence Hall is a true brick-by-brick replica of the original in Philadelphia but without the ticket fee and long waits in line. Located in Ralph B. Clark Regional Park is the Los Coyotes Paleontology Museum, which features ice age fossils and local geology exhibits.  All in all, this is truly a city that has something for everyone.

Drug Addiction and Substance Abuse

Sadly, drug addiction and substance abuse have only just begun to spiral out of control in Buena Park.  This is a city where young adults and children are treated very well, but all too often than not they will end up hooked.  This is a city that never really had addiction problems before.  Now it does.  If something is not done soon then the problem will only get much, much, much, much worse.

Facts and Statistics on Drug Addiction and Substance Abuse as it Has Been Occurring

To better understand the crisis as it really is occurring, some facts and statistics have been included below so as to provide the reader with context as to just how serious of an issue this really is:

•    Between the years of 1999 and 2010, the rounded out and overall sales for prescription painkillers to hospitals, doctors, and pharmacies increased fourfold.  That is quite literally a four-hundred percent increase in the sale and distribution of these substances.  By the year of 2010, the number of pain medications prescribed was enough to keep every single American medicated for one month’s time with the medications being in his or her bloodstream consistently throughout that entire time.

•    Since just the year of 1999, the number of overall overdose deaths from pain medications has increased by a staggering and highly upsetting 300 percent. In 2008, opiate addiction statistics deaths resulting from prescription pain meds totaled 14,800. This number amounts to over and above the combined total for heroin and cocaine-related deaths.

•    In just the year 2009 alone, the use and abuse of prescription painkiller drugs accounted for more than a full and complete 475,000 emergency room visits all in all.  This number represents a twofold increase in drug-related emergency room visits since just 2005, only four years previously.  Roughly, each and every year sees a fifteen to twenty-five percent increase in ER room visits caused by the abuse of prescription drugs.

The way to win the battle against drug addiction once and for all lies in taking a course through an inpatient, residential, drug and alcohol addiction and dependence treatment center, detox facility, rehab program, and recovery organization.  With this type of program, anyone who is addicted to anything in Buena Park can finally go free from their addiction.  A program like this will offer stellar detoxification services that can easily and effectively purify one from the chemical dependence to drugs and alcohol.  Once this is completed, one moves on to the actual rehab itself.  At this stage of the program, one will have access to all of the counseling, therapy, tools, one on one sessions, group activities, and electives needed to effectively address any and all mental and personal aspects of drug and alcohol addiction.  With these tools at one’s fingertips, those addicted in Buena Park can easily and effectively win the battle against addiction once and for all.
