Alhambra is a well-known and popular city located in the western San Gabriel Valley region of infamous Los Angeles County, California, in the United States.  The city is just approximately eight miles from the Downtown Los Angeles civic center.  It was actually incorporated on July 11, 1903.  As of the 2010 census, as reported by the United States Census Bureau, the population was 83,089.

Facts and Statistics: Real, True, and Grim Data on Addiction Facts in the United States

To better understand the addiction crisis in the United States as it currently stands, some facts and statistics have been included below for the reader to examine to help see the true gravity of drug and alcohol addiction in the United States today:

•    Unfortunately, the vast, vast majority of drug-related ED visits were made by patients 21 or older, (80.9 percent, or 3,717,030 visits).  Of these, slightly less than half involved drug use and abuse.  Patients aged 20 or younger accounted for 19.1 percent, (877,802 visits), of all drug-related visits in 2009; about half of these visits involved drug abuse, use, and addiction.

•    Illicit drug use in the United States has easily been increasing without a doubt pretty consistently for the last several years.  For example, in the year of 2013, an estimated 24.6 million Americans of the age of 12 or older, (9.4 percent of the entire population actually), had used an illicit drug in the past month only.  This number is up from just a mere and manageable 8.3 percent in the year 2002.  The increase witnessed here mostly reflects a recent rise in use of prescription drugs and alcohol both, the most commonly used and abused substances and drugs.
