Anyone Can Use Some Help Getting Through an Addiction

Family members are truly getting a lot of help from Rehab Help Hotlines of late.  A rehab help hotline is a toll free number that an addict can call to take the first step in him or her beating addiction once and or all.  For some time now rehab help hotlines have been invaluable for those addicted to drugs and alcohol.  This free service is of course completely invaluable.  If that is not totally believable the statistics below prove it, as the vast majority of individuals who this survey had been asked have now gotten off of drugs and alcohol:

• In light of all the concern about prescription drug abuse, marijuana abuse, and alcohol abuse, the nation must not forget about heroin abuse.  Last year for example, there were approximately 84,000 visits to emergency rooms in the U.S. due to heroin use and abuse alone.  Approximately Fourteen percent of all drug-related emergency room visits involve heroin in some way, shape, or form.

• Emergency room visits for the non-medical usage and abuse of just prescription drugs or pills along with alcohol alone went up from only 627,291 visits in 2004 to 1,244,679 in 2009, a staggering, shocking, and upsetting 98.4 percent escalation.  These are drugs that are made my American pharmaceutical drug companies and are supposed to be helpful and beneficial!  Patterns such as this suggest that drug abuse in America is steadily and significantly on the rise, particularly when it comes to drugs that are already legal and easy to get a hold of.  In fact, according to the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions, “In 2010, two million people reported using prescription opioids non-medically for the first time nearly 5,500 people a day.”  And that is just one type of drug.

• A 2008 study reported that drug-related overdoses had risen 56 percent in the previous 10 years alone.  Now, overdoses annually have doubled since the year 2000.  While drug use was quite high in the late 1970s with 25.4 million people abusing them, relief came at a much lower rate of 12 million users and abusers in the early 1990s.  Now, more Americans abuse drugs and alcohol than ever before.

• In the United States alone, the use and the abuse of tobacco, alcohol, and illicit drugs is very, very costly to the United States of America, exacting as it does more than $700 billion annually in costs related to crime, lost work productivity and health care, just to name a few.

• The 2012 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, (NSDUH), reported that 23.9 million American citizens over age 11 had used illicit drugs in the month preceding the survey.  Every year, drug and alcohol abuse in the United States comes with a $600 billion price tag which is unfortunately paid by the American taxpayers.  Today, there are roughly twenty-five million drug and alcohol addicts nationwide.

• Nothing is off limits in this day and age when it comes to how young individuals are getting their drugs, which makes the problem of prevention and of stopping or at least even just slowing down the spread of drug abuse across the United States a very tricky thing to do.  Today, more than fourteen percent of Americans have purchased drugs online.

How help hotlines can assist the family members and loved ones of the addict.  True enough, one does not have to be an addict to talk with a referral counselor.  They are hand-picked and selected for the job that they work at now, (the rehab help hot line), and they can offer stellar guidance and counseling for those who are trying to deal with an addicted individual.  Giving up is the first, and the word thing that everybody does.   Thanks to the excellent service offered by such standard, not the addict and his or her family can find deliver and happiness for those who are participating in it.
